Disk2vhd, provided by Microsoft,\nis able to create VHD versions of physical disk for use in Microsoft Virtual OC\nor Microsoft Hyper-V. It makes use of Windows volume Snapshot feature and created\nconsistent point-in-time snapshots of the volumes to be converted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to convert physical disk to VHD?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In this part, we are going to\nuse DiskGenius to convert a physical disk to VHD. DiskGenius can do a\nsector-level copy of disk during converting if necessary for example converting\nencrypted volume, so that the converted virtual disk can be identical to\noriginal drive<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step\n1<\/strong>: Install\nand launch DiskGenius from your computer. Then create a VHD disk with this\nsoftware: click Disk<\/strong> Menu and choose\nCreate New Virtual Disk File<\/strong> and Create Virtual PC Virtual Disk File. <\/strong>Then\nyou can name the VHD file and set a location to store it on your computer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2<\/strong>: Once the VHD is created, you can view it in DiskGenius. This newly created disk does not have any partition, and you need to partition it: select the VHD disk and click Quick Partition<\/strong> button from toolbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step\n3<\/strong>: Clone\nphysical disk to VHD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In DiskGenius, click Tools<\/strong> and choose Clone Disk<\/strong> option; then you can select the physical disk to be converted as the source disk, and select the VHD as the destination disk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Start button when you\nmake sure the source disk and destination disk have been correctly set. When\nthe cloning process completes, the converting will be dones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to convert VMDK to VHD without data loss?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

DiskGenius is able to convert\nvirtual disk formats among VMDK, VHD and VDI without losing data. Here is the process\nto convert VMDK to VHD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step\n1<\/strong>: Click Disk<\/strong> menu\nand choose Convert Virtual Disk Format.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
